As part of Egypt's economic development plan for the Suez Canal region, especially Al Ain Al Sokhna, a logistic zone (dry port) was planned and designed in the Economic Zone of the Suez Canal.

The project aims to serve all factories in the area, which export their products or raw materials abroad, supporting the Egyptian economy through private foreign sector contracts with the Customs Authority which is responsible for managing and organizing this area. The Customs Authority is responsible for expediting the handling, inspection, and preparation of containers for land/ sea shipping outside Egypt.
